Welcome to Nans Heartstrings! I’m Ann-Marie, and together with my husband, Chris, we make handcrafted soaps. We’ve called Arizona home for most of our lives, though I was born in Hawaii and spent much of my childhood there.
Our name is inspired by some of the most important people in our world: our five amazing grandchildren and the nieces and nephews who know me as Nana or Aunty Nan. They’re the heart behind our name and a reminder of what matters most to us: family.
Our soapmaking journey began with a desire to better understand the products we use at home and to reduce waste. That curiosity led us to learn how to make soap from scratch, using traditional methods and carefully chosen ingredients.
Every bar is handcrafted using the cold-process method, combining fresh, local ingredients with thoughtfully selected oils. We pour each batch, cut the bars by hand, and give them time to cure naturally.
Some of our soaps are left unscented, while others are lightly scented with essential oils, never synthetic fragrances. When we add color, it comes from natural clays, herbs, roots, and botanicals. We package our soaps in sustainable, earth-conscious materials, carrying that same care through to the finishing touches.
